Prior to the set-up of the AHRC network, we organized three conferences (one in person and two online). The first of these conferences particularly made us realize that research on early recordings as sources of performance and music history was thriving, and that some kind of forum was needed to allow researchers and other professionals working with early recordings to share their findings and engage in conversation.
You can access our past conferences’ programmes and abstracts below (the 2020 conference also includes Youtube links to most of the presentations, and the 2021 to some of them):
2019 conference (Pushkin House, London): Early recordings: Past Performing Practices in Contemporary Research
2020 conference (online): Early recordings: Methodologies in Research and Practice
2021 conference (online): Early recordings: Diversity in Practice
